In 2006 Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin (OLCHC) was designated  the ‘hub’ for the Centre of Children’s Nurse Education (CCNE) in partnership with the satellite centres located at Temple Street Children’s University Hospital (TSCUH) and The National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght (NCH).

Children’s nursing exists within a rapidly changing healthcare setting, where Registered Nurses must deliver quality care that is appropriate, safe, effective and efficient, thereby enhancing outcomes for the child and family.   Nurses need to constantly develop their knowledge, skills, attitudes and values in order to respond to new, evolving and enhanced nursing practice across all children’s healthcare settings.

The CCNE facilitate and deliver continuing education, training and professional development programmes for Registered Nurses and appropriate support staff within the three Children’s Hospitals and for services nationally which provide healthcare for children, within available resources.
