The Board of Directors of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin welcomed the announcement on 6 November 2012, by the Minister for Health, Dr James Reilly TD of the Government's decision to build the National Paediatric Hospital on the St James's Campus and their commitment of funding the project to a completion date.

The Board and the staff of this hospital are unequivocally committed to working with the Department of Health and Health Service Executive and in particular our colleagues in the Children’s University Hospital, Temple Street and the National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght in order to build a world class hospital for the children of Ireland. The three hospitals will continue to work together and be ready to transition to the St James’s site as one integrated children’s hospital with its own independent governance.

On 30th June, 2015, the Department of Health announced sites for the redevelopment of the Coombe and Rotunda Hospitals. In a joint statement welcoming the announcement, Eilísh Hardiman, CEO, Children's Hospital Group; Dr Sean Walsh, Interim CEO, Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin; Mona Baker, CEO, Temple Street Children's University Hospital and David Slevin, CEO, Tallaght Hospital, joined with Dr Susan O'Reilly, CEO of Dublin Midlands Hospital Group; Lorcan Birthistle, CEO, St James's Hospital; and Dr Sharon Sheehan, Coombe Master said: "The tri-location of adult, children's and maternal services on one campus is the best arrangement to meet the health needs of children and young people, from the sickest new-borns to young people with complex or chronic conditions transitioning to adult services. Furthermore, significant depth and breadth of clinical and academic education, research and innovation can be achieved by services being tri-located. This will further improve clinical outcomes for patients and will enhance the campus as a hub for international research and healthcare advances."

Our Lady’s is convinced that the development of the National Paediatric Hospital on the St James’s campus offers an exceptional opportunity to develop a world-class centre of integrated healthcare in Ireland.
