Are you a registered children’s nurse who has not practiced in children’s nursing for more than 5 years? Are you interested in returning to children’s nursing but are concerned about going straight back onto the wards after an absence of more than 5 years?

The purpose of the Return to Children’s Nursing Practice Programme is to provide nurses who wish to return to children’s nursing practice following an absence of 5 years or more, with the opportunity to update their knowledge and clinical skills to enable them to deliver evidence based and effective care for children and their families in a safe, competent and professional manner.

The programme consists of an 8 week full time programme with both a theoretical component and also supernummery clinical practice placements on a ward. The theoretical component of the programme will be delivered in the Centre of Children’s Nurse Education (CCNE) located at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. The clinical practice component may take place in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin or Temple Street Children’s University Hospital. This will be dependent on service availability.

Please note all participants on the programme must be on the Active register with NMBI
